In Ireland, my work, both written and time based, was done mostly in solitude, quietly, over a long period of time. I allowed myself to acted on intuition before my mind could catch up, which created a strange opportunity to work both blindly and with confidence.

The removal of the briar was a casual, voluntary act; it was motivated but unconcerned play. The leisure time photographs that followed were the critical play with my instinct to labour in the context of art. These leisure activities teased the labor of the removal and the self-affirmation I experience from physical struggle.
